Long days ahead

Well its been a while since I've written, and I know I've been saying that a lot. I guess since I've left Kuwait, things have been pretty crazy. I'm sorry. I guess I've just been pretty worn out. It's definatly starting to get really hot out that's for sure.

It sounds like I will be staying here until about mid-January. I will be going on R&R sometime in September though. I will more than likely go to Florida. The good news it that I'll be back home a few more months after that. Sorry I'm not always writing. Miss you guys tons.

Back Again!

Okay, I am finally back in Balad.  For how long, now that’s a whole new question! Haha.  Anyway, I had a great time in Baghdad – okay well as great of a time as anyone can really have you know?  I was there for about a month, and learned a ton about air movement and how it works.  I realized I really like working on “the flight line”.  It’s pretty cool, you know learning about the inner workings of an Arial Port.  Okay, well I didn’t learn too much about the inner workings, but it definitely got me interested.  I was doing mostly manifesting.  It was great.

Balad isn’t too bad either though.  It’s good to be back where there’s a pool and a movie theater.  We are still living in tents, but hopefully not for too long.  I am trying to find out if we are going to be able to move back into the building soon.  I will have my own room there- whhhooo hooo.  That is going to be good.  I am really realizing how much alone time means, and how important it is.  Little things become more and more important.  Like today, there was fresh bread at the DFAC.  I never thought about it before, but I haven’t seen fresh bread since I left the states.  It’s like butter; you never see real butter here like back in the states.  You really learn to appreciate it.  I can’t wait to sit down at a restaurant again.  Wow, even a hole in the wall will be better than a DFAC.  Haha.   Well only 6 ½ months.  Miss you guys so much.

Back in Balad

Kate just got back into Balad and will probably be there for the next 3 months. Granted this will probably change as we have all seen so far for her this deployment. She will be using her old e-mail address katherine.m.patrick@us.army.mil now since she is not in BIOP anymore. She also will be using her old mailing address if you do not have it please e-mail her to get it. In case you were wondering why we just don't post her address is for security reasons. She is counting down the days to come home and as staying well informed about the Sox and their play. Stay in touch and if you have any comments that u post on this blog it e-mails it directly to her e-mail.

Kate sent me this. These are Iraqi soldiers that she met over there. As you can see she is sporting her shorter hair style and I really like it. Posted by Hello

Update

Kate just got a cell phone over there. If you want to get the phone number e-mail her at her latest e-mail address katherine.patrick@bdab.centaf.af.mil She cannot view this blog anymore but I am sending her all the comments people post. She thanks everyone who continues to help her through the deployment. She works very long days so I do not know if she will be able to place input into the blog until she gets a couple minutes to relax but please keep checking in.
